PAG's design and manufacturing origins lie in the film industry, developing film production and post-production equipment as well as producing films. During the 1980s the increasing demand for portable power led the company into the Broadcast Television arena, powering the first so-called portable electronic cameras.

From the very beginning, PAG batteries and chargers have been designed for maximum performance and reliability, giving PAG a quality standard that is higher than others are able to achieve.

PAG has always maintained its own Research & Development facility, which has been responsible for many patents and a string of world firsts. Many PAG products have broken technological boundaries and set new world standards. PAG ACS is the only super-fast-charging system that extends, rather than reduces battery life. System RTI is the only accurate in-the-viewfinder run-time display, that counts down in hours, minutes and seconds. PAG Time Batteries are the only batteries with an accurate built-in power and time display. Paglight is the only fully-focussing, halogen or arc camera light. It is also the coolest-running and most versatile light in the industry.

Leading-edge technology, attention to detail, in both function and appearance, and product support that is second to none: these are the PAG hallmarks of excellence.
PAG System RTI
PAG Digital System RTI surpasses all existing battery status devices and displays remaining battery power in hours, minutes and seconds. There is no doubt that the reliability and performance of battery power is of fundamental importance to the reliability of the equipment it powers, and yet the fact is that batteries perform in different ways under different conditions. Other battery power indication devices are not as accurate and can be misleading as a guide to remaining battery capacity. A more sophisticated monitoring system provides more meaningful and accurate battery status information. What the cameraman really wants to know is exactly how long the battery will last, in hours minutes and seconds. PAG has achieved this with Digital System RTI. Instant and accurate battery run-time information means you can make the most of the power available and shoot for longer with fewer batteries.

PAG Digital System RTI utilises PAG's advanced two-wire technology which enables digital information to pass to and from the battery using only the standard positive and negative terminals. PAG Digital System RTI interrogates the battery during use, taking account of its state of charge and the energy being consumed. The remaining run-time is displayed in hours, minutes and seconds in the camera viewfinder.

As the load characteristics are changed, for example with the addition or subtraction of a camera light, the run-time is instantly recalculated and displayed. The System RTI microcomputer is embodied in the PAGlok connector. The video overlay signal from the PAGlok connector intercepts the composite video signal of the viewfinder. The signal wire may be routed internally or externally, enabling PAG Digital System RTI to be retro-fitted to most broadcast cameras, regardless of age or manufacture.

PAGlok System
The PAGlok System comprises two halves; one fitted to the camera, the other to the battery. When both halves are locked together they form a secure mechanical and electrical connection between camera and battery, even if the camera is handled roughly or inverted.

All contacts are shrouded for electrical safety and are fully protected against accidental damage, water splash and electrical short circuiting. Features of the PAGlok system can vary to include a power selector switch and an auxiliary power output socket ideal for onboard camera lights, such as the Paglight.

The PAGlok system is flexible and can be fitted easily to the cameras of all manufacturers as well as a wide range of ancillary equipment including recorders, monitors and portable microwave links. Quote the make and model of equipment when ordering PAGlok connectors; the correct fixing plates and accessories are available for every conceivable use.

Batteries
PAG provides a choice of rechargeable Li-Ion Ni-MH and Ni-Cd PAGlok batteries. At the top of the range are System RTI / Time Batteries.

The Time Battery is the most intelligent battery ever to be presented to the Broadcast Industry. It takes into account the changes of load that may occur during use, the charge status and condition of the cells, along with the operating conditions and provides a continually updated, accurate run-time prediction, expressed in hours and minutes.

The unique PAG Power & Time display shows the cameraman exactly how charged the battery is in relation to its stated capacity and how long it will run his equipment.

It is more accurate than so-called Real-Time displays and LED arrays found on other batteries. The display uses a simple digital character format rather than confusing symbols. and provides a run-time prediction, on-load, in 1 minute increments.

When a compatible battery is connected to a camera fitted with System RTI there is a flow of digital information that passes through the battery's terminals. This information is analysed by the System RTI software and results in an accurate prediction of remaining equipment run-time displayed in the camera viewfinder, counting down in hours, minutes and seconds.

PAG digital batteries incorporate an internal computer which is capable of storing information. This information can be revealed by System RTI and displayed in the viewfinder via the battery information screen. The information available can include date of supply, number of charge cycles and other essential warranty information, dependant on the model of the battery.

Paglight
The Paglight is elegantly styled and its proportions blend perfectly with the very latest professional broadcast cameras. In addition to the aesthetic and ergonomic qualities of this product there has been a depth of scientific development embodied that sets this camera light apart from any of its competitors. PAG's unique patented design makes Paglight the coolest running and most versatile camera light in the business.

Four plug-in lampholder options are available:

Standard Halogen
Softstart
PowerMax Control / VariLux
PowerArc

These interchangeable units fit positively into the back of the lamp body and are locked in position. A release button enables them to be quickly and easily withdrawn. Variants of unit type or wattage can now be changed without the need to handle the quartz envelope, minimising the risk of personal injury or damage to the lamp itself. A selection of lampholders can be stowed in the camera bag or kit case, each having its own protector, which is moulded in high-strength, heat-resistant polymer. Colour-coded wattage label kits are available for easy identification.

Standard Lampholder
The Standard Lampholder is designed for cost-effective halogen bi-pin lamps, available worldwide in 20W, 35W, 50W, 75W and 100W nominal ratings.

Softstart Lampholder
When a camera light is turned on from cold, the high current pulse that occurs may trigger the over-current protection of the battery (this occurs typically with any Lithium-Ion battery). The Softstart Lampholder unit is designed as a solution to this problem. It contains a surge limiting device which starts the camera light at below current peak, and then latches-out after the initial power surge.

The Softstart Lampholder is not required when using the regulated light socket on a Sony digital camera, or if the camera is fitted with PAG Digital System RTI.

PAG PowerMax Control/VariLux
The PowerMax Control/VariLux unit can be used with all PAG 12V halogen lamps from 20W up to 100W.
On-board halogen lamps, typically specified for 12V operation, are usually over-run with 13.2V or 14.4V camera batteries. For example, a 100W 12V lamp powered from a 14.4V battery will consume 150W. This results in dramatically reduced run time and shortened filament life. To counter this, PowerMax contains a voltage control circuit which efficiently regulates the voltage at the lamp base, regardless of battery voltage. This gives a constant and correct colour temperature whilst extending battery run time by as much as 25%, and dramatically improving lamp filament life. The VariLux feature of PowerMax enables you to control the light output, which unlike other systems, further conserves battery power. The manual control features a detent position which corresponds to the mid-point in the brightness range.

PAG PowerArc
The PAG PowerArc unit enables the Paglight to be instantly converted to a metal-halide arc light. This option makes the Paglight the most versatile camera light ever to be presented to the Broadcast Industry. The PowerArc utilises a 24W lamp which has an output equivalent to 100W of halogen light, but at daylight colour temperature.

The Paglight is constructed principally from a specially developed glass-reinforced engineering polymer. The advantages of this material are its high strength, impact resistance and temperature stability. Using this modern material we were able to create an aesthetically pleasing design which is also functional and light in weight.

Integral to the lamphead is a clever heat dissipation system which ensures that the light is both cool running and compact. This is achieved by a series of chambers and ventilation channels. The quick-change plug-in lamp units form part of this unique heat dissipation system.

Fully Focusable
A focusing mechanism moves the position of the light source within the scientifically designed parabola of the reflector. A smooth transition from spot to flood is achieved with an even spectral distribution, minus the black holes and flaws commonly observed with other systems.

Lamphead Support Unit
An integral part of the lamphead is its base support system. This multidirectional mounting allows the light to be adjusted vertically through 100deg. or horizontally through 180deg. The pivot points are friction adjustable to maintain the desired position in all situations of use. At the front of this unit is the on/off rocker switch.

Paglight Power Bases
Directly beneath the lamphead support unit is a detachable, hot-shoe type, low-profile power base, secured by a positive locking system. Press the release button and the Paglight can be quickly withdrawn, allowing the camera to be stowed in its flight case, but leaving the power base in position. Power Bases are available with a variety of lead lengths and connectors, for use with all popular camera configurations.

Paglight Extender Arm
Allows flexibility in the positioning of the Paglight when mounted on the camera. For example, it can lift the Paglight clear of the microphone, to avoid the casting of any shadows. In addition, the extender arm can be locked to the left or right of centre, allowing the subject to be lit from the side. Includes shoe for Sony type mounts and an adaptor and shoe plate for Panasonic type mounts.

Mounting Options
There are a number of options available for mounting the Paglight directly to the camera:

1/4" Whit. male to male stud adaptor.

Camera Shoe Plate 1/4" Whit.

PAG Universal Camera Mounting Clamp 1/4" Whit.

A 1/4" Whit. stud to bush handle rod is also available, enabling the light to be hand held or mounted in an elevated position.

Rotatable Accessory Ring
A Rotatable Accessory Ring can be fitted to the front of the Paglight, which will accommodate any combination of barndoors (tapered or parallel), a Dichroic Filter, PowerArc conversion filter or a soft-light effect (frosted) Diffuser.

The PAG Softlight Diffuser & Filter Set
The Softlight Diffuser creates a soft even light ideal for use with the PowerArc unit. The set includes filter holders which are designed to slide onto the parallel barndoors. The filter holders have hooks onto which are hung the Softlight Diffuser or any of the colour correction filters supplied in this set. The filter holder assembly can be easily removed and reapplied when necessary.
