Digital Image Converter for 2/3” Cameras
The Pro35Digital Image Converter allows broadcast videographers and digital filmmakers to attach any Arri PL mounted prime 35mm film lens to their high definition (HD) or standard definition (SD) 2/3” video camera to obtain the three-dimensional quality of a 35mm film camera on videotape.

Benefits:
With this convergent device, a 2/3” video camera can capture the same depth of field, focal length and angle of view as 35mm film. No longer restricted by a limited number of video lens options, a 2/3” video camera operator can now get creative with hundreds of
lens choices that up to now were the exclusive realm of 35mm filmmakers. By offering the three-dimensional quality of film, the Pro35Digital Adapter dramatically expands the look, definition and potential use of both HD and SD 2/3” format video.

How It Works:
The Pro35Digital projects the 16x22mm image produced by a 35mm lens onto an specially designed, eccentrically moving ground glass. This image is then relayed to the 2/3 inch sensor of the electronic camera on a reduced scale while maintaining depth-of-focus and angle-of-view. Contrast is improved and colors have a more natural appearance.

Mini 35

Use 35mm Film Lenses on the Canon XL-2, Sony Z1 and Panasonic HVX200 and Maintain All the Characteristics of the Lens Used.

For the first time in DV:
Shoot in 35mm format while maintaining depth of field, focus and angle of view.

“The image strength acquired with the XL-1S [and the Mini 35 Adapter] was beyond my expectations and also the director’s.”
-- Matt Phillips, DP, Ontario

How It Works
The adapter creates a 35mm image on the ground glass located in the film plane of the 35mm lens you attach to it. By creating a physical image inside the adapter, the natural control over the depth of field, present in 35mm film format, is preserved on your Mini DV tape. This true 35mm format image is then relayed onto the camcorder’s CCDs.

The adapter relay has its own iris to control the amount of light through the system without affecting depth of field. Defining the depth of field is usually achieved by setting the aperture of the film lens. Adjust the iris on the adapter to control independently the amount of light through the system. This feature of the Mini 35 Digital adapter gives you a new creative freedom not available on a standard camera setup. In addition, the angle of view of the lens is preserved. For example, a 25mm film lens remains wide angle
when it is used on this system.

Uses
Film Crews: Shoot pre-production trial footage and get a true 35mm image without using an expensive film camera.
Email film-like quality trial footage from the field.
Film Schools: Great for film schools teaching 35mm framing, lighting and depth of field control.
Film Students: Rent the P+S Mini Digital adapter from OpTex rentals and get practical film production experience without using expensive film stock.
Practice focus-pulling, shoot and get creative with depth of field -- all on inexpensive Mini DV tape.
Professional Videographers: Reproduce the three-dimensional quality of 35mm film on video and produce
better images for TV spots, Internet applications and presentations.
