Cooke Lenses have been capturing images for over 100 years, Cooke Lenses have been:

With Scott and Shackleton at the South Pole,
At the top of Mount Everest and in the deepest ocean in the world,
At Royal weddings and major ceremonial events,
On ornithological and scientific expeditions,
In the service of NATO on the ground, and
At maximum heights in the atmosphere,
In most of the world's television networks, and
On major film locations.

The Cooke S4 Prime Lenses were designed and developed in close technical collaboration with Clairmont Camera and Otto Nemenz in Hollywood. They are colour-matched and compatible with Cooke's 18-100mm T3.0 and 25-250mm T3.7 zoom lenses. The S4 lenses represent a major advance in fixed focal length lenses for 35mm format professional cinematography.

The first Cooke video lens for the 21st century created by the pioneers of video lens technology: the S4 HD zoom. Award-winning S4 film lens expertise applied to video has produced a high definition lens for the traditional cinematographer shooting in video.

Cooke incorporated several features for the professional production crew: clear calibrated focus scales positioned relative to the focal plane with viewing windows; easily interchangeable footage and metric focus rings; and two opposing focus, zoom and iris scales.

A novel design incorporating a special cam mechanism for back focus adjustment ensures that optical and mechanical alignment remains true. A graduated ring allows prceise and smooth adjustment of back focus of +/- 0.4mm.

The focus and zoom carriages are positioned on precision ball-race mounted rollers for an accurate, non-rotating movement and smooth, low-torque adjustment. Non-pumping internal focus and zoom movements prevent dust intake. Cooke's dust-sealed focus and zoom bearings improve reliability and ease of service.

The S4 HD zoom is supplied with a lens support that adapts onto standard camera support rails.
