Established January 2006 Production Gear was founded by three former employees of OpTex, they are Simon Beer, Edward Catton-Orr and Steven Graham. Following the sad and unexpected demise of OpTex Ltd - one of the best known names in the production equipment industry - three former employees finding themselves made redundant came together to create a company to continue in the supply of film, broadcast and professional production equipment and the manufacture of the speciality optics, mounts and numerous other products that OpTex was well known for. Since its conception Production Gear has carried on the UK distribution of products formally handled by OpTex as well as securing new agencies for exciting and innovative products. These distributorships include Sachtler, Oconnor, Chrosziel, Panther, Cavision, Easyrig, Bebob, Zunow and ERG. Production Gear are also authorized UK resellers for many other top brands. Former OpTex products including lens mounts, image intensifiers and periscope probe systems are now being manufactured under the Production Gear banner to the same exacting standards and attention to detail that OpTex gained respect for. The expertise OpTex had been credited with may now be found here at Production Gear. We are pleased to be helping many former OpTex clients with their technical enquiries and providing solutions for them. Production Gear started trading in 2006 from a rented office in Potters Bar, within three months the company had outgrown its temorary office and had joined the production community at Millennium Studios in Borehamwood.
